Production and Dispatch Operative Job in Walsall

Bespoke Career Solutions is recruiting an experienced Multi-Skilled Production and Dispatch Operative for a well-established precision manufacturing company in Walsall.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining circular saw operation, forklift driving, van deliveries, packing, dispatch and general site maintenance. You will support the movement of materials and finished components throughout the business, helping production and customer deliveries run efficiently.

The company manufactures precision components for industries including automotive, aerospace and power generation. Materials range from engineering plastics through to steel, so accuracy, safe working and careful material handling are essential.

This opportunity would suit a practical and dependable person who enjoys varied responsibilities and is comfortable moving between production, warehouse, dispatch and driving duties.

Key Responsibilities

Circular Saw Operation

• Operating an industrial circular saw to cut materials to the required size
• Working with engineering plastics, metals and other manufacturing materials
• Reading job instructions and checking cutting requirements
• Measuring and marking materials accurately before cutting
• Selecting the correct saw settings for different materials
• Loading materials safely onto the saw bed
• Checking cut lengths and finished materials for accuracy
• Monitoring blade condition and reporting maintenance requirements
• Removing offcuts and keeping the cutting area clean and organised
• Following all machine operating and health and safety procedures

Forklift and Materials Handling

• Operating a forklift truck to move materials and finished components safely
• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
• Moving stock between production, warehouse and dispatch areas
• Placing materials into the correct storage locations
• Checking loads are stable and secure before movement
• Completing daily equipment checks and reporting faults
• Following site traffic and pedestrian safety procedures

Packing and Dispatch

• Checking finished components against customer orders and dispatch paperwork
• Packing precision components securely to prevent damage during transport
• Selecting suitable packaging materials for different products
• Labelling boxes, pallets and customer orders accurately
• Using computer systems to generate dispatch labels and delivery documentation
• Preparing completed orders for courier collection or customer delivery
• Organising goods within the dispatch area
• Maintaining accurate records of outgoing orders
• Reporting damaged, missing or incorrect items

Van Driving and Deliveries

• Driving a large commercial van to complete customer deliveries and collections
• Planning delivery routes and working to agreed schedules
• Loading and securing goods safely before travelling
• Checking delivery paperwork before leaving the site
• Representing the company professionally when visiting customers and suppliers
• Obtaining delivery confirmations and returning completed paperwork
• Completing routine vehicle checks and reporting defects
• Keeping the vehicle clean, organised and roadworthy

General Maintenance and Site Support

• Completing basic maintenance and practical tasks around the site
• Helping to keep production, warehouse and external areas clean and safe
• Reporting damaged equipment, fixtures or potential safety hazards
• Supporting the production and warehouse teams during busy periods
• Assisting with stock movements and general housekeeping
• Carrying out other reasonable duties according to operational requirements

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous experience operating an industrial circular saw is essential
• Experience driving a large commercial van
• A valid driving licence suitable for the required delivery duties
• Previous forklift truck operating experience
• Experience packing products and preparing customer orders for dispatch
• Basic computer skills and the ability to produce dispatch labels
• Confidence using measuring equipment accurately
• Good practical and general maintenance skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow job instructions and safety procedures
• Physically able to carry out active production and warehouse duties
• A reliable, flexible and responsible approach to work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
