Site Maintenance Engineer Job in Aldridge
Bespoke Career Solutions is recruiting an experienced Site Maintenance Engineer for a permanent position within a busy UPVC manufacturing and production environment in Aldridge.
This is a varied, hands-on engineering role covering the planned maintenance, repair and improvement of UPVC fabrication machinery. You will also support general building, facilities and site maintenance.
The successful candidate will help reduce machinery downtime, improve equipment reliability and ensure the production site remains safe and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
Machinery Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on UPVC fabrication machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Install, commission and relocate machinery when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service schedules.
- Work with external engineers, contractors and equipment suppliers.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently.
Site and Facilities Maintenance
- Complete general building and facilities maintenance tasks.
- Maintain lighting, heating, compressed air systems and site utilities.
- Carry out minor repairs to buildings, fixtures and equipment.
- Support health and safety inspections and compliance procedures.
- Maintain workshop tools, spare parts and maintenance equipment.
- Support the safe management of contractors working on site.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability and efficiency.
- Investigate recurring faults and recommend long-term solutions.
- Support machinery upgrades and manufacturing improvement projects.
- Monitor spare-parts stock and recommend essential components.
- Help improve preventative maintenance processes across the site.
Site Maintenance Engineer Requirements
Essential Experience
- Previous maintenance engineering experience within manufacturing or production.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding, repair and maintenance skills.
- Basic electrical fault-finding ability.
- Experience maintaining industrial or production machinery.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals and maintenance documents.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage maintenance priorities.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Experience maintaining UPVC fabrication machinery.
- Knowledge of welding, routing, cutting, CNC or corner-cleaning equipment.
- Electrical qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ, 18th Edition or equivalent.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled production machinery.
- An IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Experience supporting machinery installation or commissioning projects.
