CNC Setter / Programmer Job in Dudley
Bespoke Career Solutions is recruiting an experienced CNC Setter / Programmer for a specialist engineering manufacturer in the Dudley area.
The company manufactures chains and associated precision components in high volumes for demanding industrial applications. You will be responsible for setting and programming Fanuc-controlled Doosan and Puma CNC lathes, ensuring components are manufactured accurately, consistently and efficiently.
This position requires an experienced CNC professional who can take responsibility for the complete machining process. This will include interpreting engineering drawings, preparing tooling, programming and setting machines, producing first-off components and monitoring quality throughout each production run.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting and operating Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes
- Working with Doosan and Puma CNC turning machines
- Producing specialist components for high-volume chain manufacturing
- Creating, entering, editing and proving CNC programs
- Setting tools, workholding equipment and machine offsets
- Completing machine changeovers accurately and efficiently
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Selecting suitable tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting parameters
- Producing first-off components and completing dimensional inspections
- Using verniers, micrometers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment
- Monitoring machines throughout high-volume production runs
- Making program and offset adjustments to maintain component accuracy
- Identifying and resolving programming, tooling and machining problems
- Checking finished components against drawings and quality specifications
- Replacing and monitoring cutting tools to prevent quality issues
- Recording inspection results and completing production documentation
- Working to production schedules, output targets and delivery deadlines
- Reducing machine downtime, rejected components and unnecessary tooling waste
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area
- Following all company quality, safety and operating procedures
Skills and Experience Required
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Previous experience programming and setting CNC lathes
- Practical experience using Fanuc controls
- Experience working with Doosan or Puma CNC lathes
- The ability to program and edit CNC programs at the machine
- The ability to set machines independently
- Good knowledge of CNC turning and precision machining processes
- Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment
- A strong understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, speeds and feeds
- Good fault-finding and machining problem-solving skills
- The ability to maintain consistent quality during high-volume production
- Strong attention to detail and a reliable approach to work
Previous experience within chain manufacturing or another high-volume precision engineering environment would be advantageous.
