Bespoke Career Solutions is recruiting Warehouse Operatives for ongoing work with a busy company based in Cannock.
This is a varied, hands-on warehouse position involving goods in, order picking, packing, stock movement and preparing orders for dispatch. You will work as part of an established team to ensure incoming and outgoing goods are handled safely, accurately and efficiently.
Previous warehouse experience would be advantageous. However, candidates with a reliable attitude, good attention to detail and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
You must be comfortable completing physically active work and working across different areas of the warehouse according to daily requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Goods In
- Receiving incoming deliveries and unloading goods safely
- Checking received items against delivery notes and purchase orders
- Counting goods and confirming that quantities are correct
- Inspecting deliveries for damage, shortages or incorrect items
- Reporting any delivery discrepancies to a supervisor
- Labelling incoming stock accurately
- Moving received goods to the correct warehouse locations
- Completing goods-in paperwork and updating records
Order Picking
- Picking products and materials accurately from warehouse locations
- Following paper-based or electronic picking instructions
- Checking product codes, descriptions and quantities carefully
- Preparing picked items for packing or internal use
- Reporting missing, damaged or incorrectly located stock
- Ensuring orders are picked within the required timescales
- Maintaining a high level of accuracy throughout the picking process
Packing and Dispatch
- Checking picked orders before packing
- Packing products securely to prevent damage during transport
- Selecting appropriate packaging for different products
- Labelling boxes, pallets and completed orders correctly
- Preparing orders for collection and delivery
- Completing dispatch paperwork accurately
- Organising completed orders in the correct dispatch areas
- Assisting with the loading of outgoing vehicles
Stock Control
- Putting stock away in the correct warehouse locations
- Moving goods safely between different storage areas
- Maintaining clear and accurate stock locations
- Supporting regular stock checks and inventory counts
- Investigating and reporting stock discrepancies
- Rotating stock where required
- Keeping products stored safely and securely
- Helping to maintain accurate warehouse records
Warehouse Housekeeping and Safety
- Keeping aisles, storage areas and workstations clean and organised
- Removing packaging and waste materials from working areas
- Following safe manual-handling procedures
- Using warehouse equipment safely and correctly
- Wearing the required personal protective equipment
- Reporting hazards, damaged equipment and unsafe working practices
- Following all company health and safety procedures
- Helping to maintain a safe and efficient warehouse environment
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous warehouse, order-picking, packing or goods-in experience would be advantageous
- Good attention to detail and a focus on accuracy
- Ability to follow instructions and established warehouse processes
- Comfortable completing practical and physically active work
- Physically able to stand, walk, lift and move goods throughout the working day
- A reliable and punctual approach to work
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a warehouse team
- Willingness to work across goods in, picking, packing and dispatch
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Commitment to ongoing work
