    About the Role — CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer

    As a CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer, you will set, operate, and programme CNC lathes including twin spindle and multi-bar feed systems to manufacture high-quality industrial components. You’ll play a key role in ensuring production efficiency, quality standards, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing process.

    This role may also suit candidates searching for CNC Machinist, CNC Turner, or CNC Programmer positions.

    Key Responsibilities

    🔧 Machine Setup & Tooling

    • Set up CNC machines, load materials, secure workpieces, and install tooling and fixtures.
    • Select and adjust cutting tools and conduct tool offsets.
    • Verify machine setups to ensure accurate machining processes.

    ⚙️ CNC Operation & Programming

    • Operate, set, and programme CNC lathes using G-code.
    • Produce components to engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Monitor and optimise machining performance and production output.

    ✅ Quality Assurance

    • Inspect and measure completed parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometres, verniers, gauges, comparators, and height gauges.
    • Carry out in-process inspections and support CMM inspection processes (training provided).
    • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.

    🤝 Collaboration & Support

    • Work closely with production supervisors and quality teams to achieve targets.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior operators when required.

    🦺 Health, Safety & Compliance

    • Follow company and statutory health and safety procedures.
    • Maintain compliance with ISO and internal quality standards.

    Skills & Experience Required

    Technical Requirements

    • Strong CNC programming knowledge (G-code) and machine setting experience.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (essential).
    • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
    • CAD/CAM software experience desirable (training available).

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in CNC machining, particularly turning or lathe environments.
    • Proven track record of meeting production targets and maintaining quality standards.

    Qualifications

    • Apprenticeship, vocational training, or formal CNC machining qualification preferred.
    • Ongoing training and development provided.

    Personal Attributes

    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.

    Working Hours & Environment

    • Shop floor-based role within an industrial manufacturing environment.
    • Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:15
    • Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
    • Overtime available depending on production requirements.
